VelaShape III is a non-invasive body shaping treatment used to reduce the appearance of cellulite. The machine combines four different technologies — infrared, bi-polar radio frequency, pulsed vacuum, and massage rollers — to improve skin texture and reduce overall volume of the treated area. The combination of technologies cause deep heating of the connective tissue and an increase in collagen resulting in a localized reduction in skin laxity and volume. The additional mechanical massage of tissue causes an immediate increase in circulation and lymphatic drainage, both essential components for healthy skin structure.
Cellulite is a structural skin change that occurs in most females whether they are thin or overweight. It presents itself as skin dimpling and nodularity that occurs mainly in women and is caused by the herniation of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue, leading to a padded or orange peel–like appearance. Cellulite can occur in women of all ages and tends to become more visible with age. Over time, the skin loses its thickness and thereby enhances the visibility of the unsightly cellulite bumps.
The Vela treatment is recommended for normal to overweight patients who suffer from unsightly cellulite. For optimized results it is recommended to do a series of six treatments scheduled one week apart with maintenance of one treatment every 3-4 months.
