Alrighty folks. Time to talk about IPL. One of Clarity’s most popular and most requested rejuvenation treatments.
IPL (or Intense Pulsed Light) is a multi-tasking, non-invasive, light based treatment that uses high intensity pulses of visible light to improve many different skin imperfections. Our particular device, the ELOS SRA Plus, also combines the synergy of bipolar radio frequency. By combining these two energies, we are able to improve sun-damaged skin, vascular lesions, diffuse redness, rosacea, pore size, and even smooth out those fine lines and wrinkles. HELLO!! Yes. You NEED an IPL treatment. We ALL need an IPL treatment. Unless you live in a cave, you have some degree of sun damage. It may not be visible on the surface yet, but it’s down there. Eventually it will make its way to the surface. A series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is ideal. Treatments are 1 hour long, very easy to tolerate, and there is very minimal down time. Most patients walk out of the office with a “sun-burned” appearance to their skin. Brown spots and vascular lesions will darken over the first 3-5 days and develop a “coffee ground” texture. This crusting is easily covered with a tinted sunscreen and mineral powder and will flake off, usually within 7-14 days depending on how severe your skin damage was.
It is required that you avoid any sun exposure before and after your treatment. We are unable to treat tanned skin. It is also recommended to discontinue the use of any AHAs, Retinol products, and photo sensitizing medications 5-7 days before your treatment as these can cause adverse reactions. Combining a good at-home skin care regiment with your treatments will enhance your results, and daily use of a vitamin C antioxidant and a physical spf are a must during the course of treatment.
So, how does it work?? The visible light energy is absorbed by the pigment in the skins surface, while the radio frequency energy stimulates the production of collagen (the skins support system) from within. In combining the IPL and RF energy into one treatment, we are able to offer you the very latest and greatest form of skin rejuvenation.
