Volbella by Emily

Volbella… My New Favorite Filler!

I love injecting fillers… I love how natural it is. I love the instant results. I love the patient’s reaction when I first hand them the mirror to take a look when I am finished. I love it all. And these days, I am loving Volbella!

Volbella is a soft, smooth hyaluronic acid used to add subtle volume to lips and softens those perioral lines, or “smokers” lines that we all hate. This is a great product for the aging lip, for someone that wants to add some volume they have lost but doesn’t want “big lips”. And it is the perfect product to soften those lines around the lip and mouth! Volbella is a great add on filler too! For a patient that typically uses Juvederm or Voluma for deeper lines and midface lift, volbella helps to polish things off by filling those fine lines that are trickier to treat.

Because of its soft and smooth appearance, I have been using Volbella in the eye trough area as well and have been amazed by the results. Just the other day I had a girl come in who was preparing for her wedding day photos. She has always hated her “sunken in eyes”. I used Volbella in her eye trough and under eye area and the results were amazing! So natural and subtle yet life changing for her! When I handed her the mirror she started to cry because she was so excited! And finally felt like she could do her Bridal Portraits without hating her eyes.

I love Fillers! I love Volbella! And I love making my patients feel confident and good about themselves.

Maintaining your CoolSculpting results by Corine

Maintaining your Coolsculpting Results
By Corine Young
As a body contouring specialist, I am constantly asked about gaining weight after Coolsculpting.
“What if I gain weight? How should I change my lifestyle? How long will my results last?”
These are all very important questions. Yes, you can gain weight after body contouring. Yes, you can lose your results with a significant weight gain and Yes, it is possible to keep your results forever.
I personally gained weight after my Coolsculpting treatment. I thought that since ¼ of my fat cells were gone, I could eat whatever I wanted and stay slim. After a 13 pound weight gain I was terrified that I had lost my results forever. I learned some amazing things about Coolsculpting because of this.
With my weight gain I still looked better than I had before my treatment. Overall my waist measured larger with my weight gain, but I didn’t have awkward areas where my fat was being stored. I felt like my weight gain distributed equally around my body. I could still wear more form fitting clothing and I wasn’t trying to hide my body like I would have otherwise. After I realized what I had done, I started following a meal plan and lost most of the weight. With weight loss I noticed my treatment results even more. Areas shrunk quicker and I felt even more sculpted. Coolsculpting has released studies showing that results can last forever, as long as life style is maintained.
Here are a few simple ways to maintain your results, and to keep yourself on track.
1- Know that your lifestyle needs to be maintained in order to keep your results. If you eat healthy and work out every day, stick to that lifestyle. Don’t allow yourself to make food decisions that you wouldn’t have made before your treatment. Protect your investment.
2- Carbs are not the enemy, if they are the right carbs. Your body needs Carbohydrates in order to fuel itself. Eating a meal that is properly balanced with Fats, Proteins and carbs will not only make you a happier person, but it will allow your body to operate properly. Sweet Potatoes, Quinoa and Brown rice are all healthy choices.
3- Make sure you are not allowing yourself to over eat. Here is a quick portion size guideline that was found on Diet-to-go:
Protein- Around the size of your palm
Carbohydrates -Around the size of your fist
Fat- Around the a small handful
These are not exact proportion, but they are an easy, quick reminder.
4- Balanced Body, Located in the same building as Clarity, is a great resource for any additional information. Balanced Body specializes in IV Therapy, Hormone Therapy and weight loss assistance. I personally find the slim shots to be an addicting benefit to the healthy lifestyle I am now living. If you feel like you need additional assistance with meal planning, workouts or hormone therapy, Balance Body is an amazing company to reach out to 801-893-3553.
Coolsculpting is an amazing tool to utilize to help you achieve your goals. Let us girls at Clarity Skin help you along the way. 801-571-2040

CoolSculpting by Candace

It’s that time of year folks… New Year Resolutions! It seems to me that the MOST POPULAR is in regards to improving your body, making what I am going talk to you about the perfect fit… Cool Sculpting!

As non-invasive body contouring treatments continue to grow, Cool Sculpting continues to lead be the leader. It is the worlds #1 non-invasive far reduction procedure with over 1 millions treated preformed world-wide. Cool Sculpting is an innovated, non-invasive body contouring treatment that helps contour your body by “freezing” unwanted fat. How is this even possible? Right? Well trust me folks it is!!

Cool Sculpting procedure works by delivering controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin while leaving the skin itself unaffected. The treated fat cells are crystallized aka “frozen,” then 20-25% die. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving a more sculpted you in less then 3 months. All this without any surgery, needles or downtime!!

The most common questions people have are the following;
• How much will it cost?
• Does is hurt?
• What happens to the fat?
• Does it really work?
• How long does it take for results?
And, What’s happens if I gain weight later?

For most people the number one question is always, how much will this cost? Of course it is the hardest question to answer. Cost varies with every patient, and until we see your body and the concerns you have we won’t know the price. But here’s what I can say, Cool Sculpting cycles start at $600 per cycle with package discounts.

Does it hurt? Again, everyone’s pain thrush hold is deferent but here’s what you can expect; I always tell my patients that there are “moments” of discomfort. The first 10 minutes and the last 3-5 minutes are it during your treatment. Afterwards you will have about a week if swelling, bruising and tenderness. Other then that you can maintain your regular schedule.

Where does the fat go? Well after the treated fat cells are frozen, the body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they are gone for good!!

Here’s my favorite question, does it really work?!? My answer is YES! Cool Sculpting has up to a 95% patient satisfaction rate with Zeltiq’s studies. We here at Clarity Skin, help create a customized treatment plan for you that tailors to your individual needs. Results take anywhere between 4 weeks and 3 months. Of course, everybody’s results vary but the whole staff at Clarity Skin have been treated and everyone is 100% sure it works!

Last question that comes up all the time since I covered the time frame for results already is, What happens if you gain weight later? Well of course like any body contouring treatment, diet and exercise is crucial for long term results. However with Cool Sculpting the beauty behind it is that the fat cells that were killed are permanently destroyed. However, we only treated 20-25% of the fat cells so yes, you can still gain volume in the area we treated and of course in other areas of your body.

Here at Clarity Skin we have preformed OVER 3,500 treatments in just under 3 years. We have three of the most amazing, highly skilled technicians. The clinic and the technicians have all been certified and trained by the wonderful creators behind Cool Sculpting, Zeltiq.

So what are you waiting for? Do you want a more sculpted you? Please come in and see me or my amazing coworkers for a complementary consultation to see if Cool Sculpting is right for you!!

IPL treatment by Jocelyn

Alrighty folks. Time to talk about IPL. One of Clarity’s most popular and most requested rejuvenation treatments.

IPL (or Intense Pulsed Light) is a multi-tasking, non-invasive, light based treatment that uses high intensity pulses of visible light to improve many different skin imperfections. Our particular device, the ELOS SRA Plus, also combines the synergy of bipolar radio frequency. By combining these two energies, we are able to improve sun-damaged skin, vascular lesions, diffuse redness, rosacea, pore size, and even smooth out those fine lines and wrinkles. HELLO!! Yes. You NEED an IPL treatment. We ALL need an IPL treatment. Unless you live in a cave, you have some degree of sun damage. It may not be visible on the surface yet, but it’s down there. Eventually it will make its way to the surface. A series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is ideal. Treatments are 1 hour long, very easy to tolerate, and there is very minimal down time. Most patients walk out of the office with a “sun-burned” appearance to their skin. Brown spots and vascular lesions will darken over the first 3-5 days and develop a “coffee ground” texture. This crusting is easily covered with a tinted sunscreen and mineral powder and will flake off, usually within 7-14 days depending on how severe your skin damage was.
It is required that you avoid any sun exposure before and after your treatment. We are unable to treat tanned skin. It is also recommended to discontinue the use of any AHAs, Retinol products, and photo sensitizing medications 5-7 days before your treatment as these can cause adverse reactions. Combining a good at-home skin care regiment with your treatments will enhance your results, and daily use of a vitamin C antioxidant and a physical spf are a must during the course of treatment.

So, how does it work?? The visible light energy is absorbed by the pigment in the skins surface, while the radio frequency energy stimulates the production of collagen (the skins support system) from within. In combining the IPL and RF energy into one treatment, we are able to offer you the very latest and greatest form of skin rejuvenation.

So there you have it. IPL is a safe effective way to give your skin an overall rejuvenation. Come and see me soon!!!

Retinol by Mindy

This post was inspired by one of my favorite skin care products AND by the number one question I get asked by my clients “what is the best skin care product that will help improve my skin right away?”

The reality for many women is just as they start to see wrinkles on their skin (perhaps around the eyes or on the forehead for example) they still get an occasional pimple. This can be both frustrating and confusing. Yet it isn’t so difficult to find one solution for both skincare issues.

I would like to point out that the skincare phenomena I am writing about here is not adult acne. While adult acne is definitely on the rise, I am referring here to people who are probably in their late 30s, early 40s and are starting to see the emergence of fine lines while still occasionally experiencing breakouts this.

In my opinion what is happening here is simple: you are starting to see fine lines because sun damage from years before is now becoming visible, and you are still experiencing an occasional breakout because of your hormones (especially those related to your period) and/or stress. Just as I see the cause of this skincare issue as fairly straightforward so is, in my opinion, the solution: add a retinol cream to your skincare regime at night, make sure you use sunscreen daily, and use an antioxidant serum/lotion every day. Be sure not to go overboard in order to improve the appearance of your skin. Do not start using anti-acne products meant for teenagers like “grocery store spot treatments”. These products will be much too harsh for pretty much anyone who isn’t a teenager anymore.

Retinol is the ideal skincare ingredient for people experiencing both fine lines and an occasional breakout because it can treat both issues simultaneously. So what is Retinol??

Retinol is a form of vitamin A. Other forms of vitamin A in skincare that you may be familiar with include isotretinoin (better known as Accutane) or retinoic acid (also known as Tretinoin) While these are prescription doses, retinol is the same thing but in a “lower dose”. Retinol does not require a prescription and can give you much of the same results as stronger vitamin A doses without some of the harshness.
Things retinol can help:

– fine lines and wrinkles
– skin roughness and dullness
– skin firmness
– pigmentation from age spots
– acne

Retinoids are skin cell normalizers so that means that they speed up skin cell turn-over which will help clear up breakouts, and retinoids help rebuild collagen so they will minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time. As such adding a retinol product to your skincare regime is the perfect solution for both fine lines and breakouts.

Just keep a few things in mind when using retinoids:

Retinols can be irritating to the skin, and cause dehydration. To reduce the chances of this happening, you should introduce it into your routine slowly (don’t use it every day to begin with), and use extra hydrating moisturisers.

Retinol breaks down with exposure to light and air. Pick a retinol product in an airtight, opaque container to improve its shelf life.

Using retinol with other excellent skin treatments like AHAs (alpha hydroxyl acids) and vitamin C can speed up the skin renewal process, fading hyperpigmentation and wrinkles faster.
Retinol, much like AHAs (alpha hydroxyl acids), can make the skin more susceptible to sunburn. Wear extra sunscreen when you use retinol so you don’t completely reverse its beneficial effects!

Lastly, keep in mind that you cannot use Retin-A or retinols when pregnant or nursing.

So how would this anti-aging, anti-acne skincare regime look? I suggest cleansing twice daily with a mild cleanser, applying an antioxidant in the morning (such as a Vitamin C serum/lotion in order to boost the effectiveness of your sunscreen, further prevent the signs of aging, protect your skin from inflammation), and then using a sunscreen with a spf between 30 to 50 (you can also use a separate moisturizer before your sunscreen if you feel your skin needs it). In the evening after cleansing apply a retinol cream followed by a moisturizer.

Pretty simple, right? Come to Clarity and check out some of our favorites! ❤

xoxo, Mindy

Micro Needling by Michelle

Micro needling By Michelle

Skin needling, also called microneedling therapy, collagen induction therapy (CIT), and percutaneous collagen induction (PCI), is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Through the process of neovascularization and neocollagenesis, there is improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.

PCIpercutaneous collagen induction) has proved to be a simple and fast method for safely treating wrinkles and scars. Because the epidermis remains intact, the procedure can be repeated safely and is also suited to regions where laser treatments and deep peels are not typically performed. PCI (percutaneous collagen induction) therapy is now becoming widely used as a treatment for photoaged skin to improve the skin’s appearance and quality, and to improve or even prevent scarring.

It is cost-effective, and can be done on areas of skin that may not be suitable for peeling or laser resurfacing, such as around the eyes and mouth, hands, and chest. The procedure is well tolerated by patients with minimal downtime, and can be easily personalized by going deeper on some areas where skin damage requires a more aggressive approach.

“Microneedling is a safe, chemical-free method that triggers new collagen production,”

The Voluma Lift by Brooke Anderson

The Voluma Lift
Looking in a mirror right after a voluma treatment I often hear clients say, “That’s exactly what I wanted, I just wasn’t sure how to describe it” or “I look a lot better but I don’t think anyone will be able to tell what I had done.” As we age we lose collagen, fat, even some of some of our bony support which causes our cheeks to descend downward!
Ugh, we get hollowing or sometimes protrusion of the fat pads under the eye, laxity of the muscle and skin in our cheeks contributing to jowling and sagging in our lower face. Not okay.
My philosophy is we can age with a few lines and wrinkles but aging with sagging is not okay. Voluma is the game changer.
Voluma is a injectable gel filler made by Allergan, the makers of Botox. What is an injectable gel? Well, fillers have come a long way in the last decade. Hyluronic acid is already naturally occurring in our skin and joints. HA’s as we call them are simply sugar molecule that hydrate and volumize by holding up to 100x their weight in H2O. Voluma uses the newest vycross technology to cross-link the hyluronic acid for maximum lift and longevity. It’s pretty simple, when we replace the support in the cheeks our tissues lift, they look and move like they did when we were younger. Our facial muscles even act like they did when we were younger. And guess what, it looks natural! With the right technique the treated cheek is tighter, lifted…not bigger. The under eye area is improved as well. Often times it negates the need for filler in the smile lines due the the lift around the mouth. The angle of the jaw and jowling improves.
What can I expect during and after a treatment? I tell my clients they can experience an achy, pressure sensation at the most during treatment and sometimes minor bruising, very little swelling occurs following injection. Avoiding exercise and waiting a few hours to apply makeup is about it for post procedure instructions Almost everyone is a candidate for this treatment. During your medical consultation we can discuss questions and concerns and talk about how we’ll customize your treatment.
With an instant result that lasts over a year, you can see why year its got one of the highest client satisfaction rates in the anti-aging industry. Come talk with us about your Voluma treatment.
No sagging here!!!

Benefits of Vitamin C for the skin by Adrian

Vitamin C isn’t just for keeping the common cold away. There are some great uses for it when used topically for your skin. Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is great for anti-aging and brighter skin. It also plays a role in collagen production. It is an anti-oxidant that can help reduce skin damage due to free radicals, thus reducing fine line and wrinkles. Vitamin C is also very effective against both UVA and UVB but does not take the place of your sunscreen.

Vitamin C can benefit any skin type from normal to oily. It is also safe to use on a daily bails for long periods of time. We carry the top skin care lines here at Clarity Skin. Our friendly and knowledgable staff can match you with the best product for your particular skin.
